J. Ramirez

Juan Carlos Ramirez is originally from East Los Angeles, California. He is a first-generation college graduate, raised by two loving immigrant parents from the working class. He graduated from Garfield High School in East Los Angeles in 1995. Following that, he attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish and Chicano Studies. In 2010, he obtained a master's degree in school administration from Lamar University.

Mr. Ramirez began his career as an instructional aide and soon became a classroom teacher at El Puente Community Court School in Santa Barbara, California.

In 2006, he moved to Houston and joined the Galena Park Independent School District (GPISD) as a World Geography teacher at Galena Park High School. He later advanced to the roles of Coordinator for Student Support Services and Assistant Principal.

Eventually, he was promoted to Associate Principal before leaving in 2021 to become the principal of Woodland Acres Middle School. Mr. Ramirez returned to GPISD in 2024 and is currently entering his second year as the high school's principal. He has been happily married to Araceli Ramirez for 24 years as of October. Mr. Ramirez has three children, all of whom attend GPISD schools and participated in the Encounters Gifted and Talented (GT) program. In his free time, he enjoys riding his motorcycle, watching movies, and traveling with his family.
